Joshua Zhang
Data Specialist
As the data specialist for our team, I focused on preparing and analyzing satellite fire data from Kaggle. I cleaned and organized the dataset, created key visualizations, and helped translate complex fire patterns into clear, understandable charts for our website. My work supported our goal of using data to tell meaningful stories about wildfire impact across Australia.

Yuyao Huang
Web Manager
As Web Manager, I built and maintained the website, combining data visualizations, narratives, and design into a clear and navigable experience. I worked with peers to keep content aligned on schedule, and ensured the site was performant and accessible. My work helped make our wildfire data stories about Australia discoverable and engaging, keeping the team digitally synchronized and the project moving forward.

Jingjing Yu
Project Manager
As the project manager on our team, I mainly focused on keeping track of our schedule, dividing up the work, and making sure everyone stayed in touch. I helped bring together the data visualizations, writing, and design into one final piece. My role was to keep the project moving forward so we could use data to show what wildfires looked like across Australia.

Weiling Luo
Content Developer
Weiling Luo, a senior majoring in Statistics and Data Science, served as the team’s Content Developer, contributing both analytical and narrative components to the project. She wrote the first three paragraphs of the final narrative, created the project timeline and timeline narrative, and designed two key data visualizations—a bar chart showing daily wildfire frequency and a scatterplot examining the relationship between FRP and detection confidence—along with their written analyses narrative. She also created and interpreted the map titled Wildfire Intensity Across Australia (Aug–Sep 2019). As part of the team’s data critique, Weiling focused on identifying what information the dataset includes, what it can illuminate, and what it cannot reveal. She also wrote the section on data sources, processing, and visualization decisions.
